My how time flies in technology! Steve Ballmer, then CEO at Microsoft, introduced the groundbreaking Windows 7 operating system as his Keynote Address to the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada. The largest trade show of its kind in the world, CES is frequently where major technology developments are announced.
With the benefit of nearly six years of hindsight as of this writing, things that were so ground-breaking then seem so quaint now. Sharing photos via social media apps. Streaming video. Pinch-to-zoom. Among many other features revealed in this address, all are now expected basics.
Ballmer’s passion is evident when he speaks. He articulates clearly and is very expressive when he gets excited.
And yes, give him points for theatrics too!
